Denon
2010 marked the 100th anniversary of Japanese electronics company Denon. The company originally specialized in digital audio technology, particularly in the manufacturing of high-fidelity professional and consumer hardware. Denon has been a leader in audio innovation since its inception. The company produced the first professional-use tape recorder for broadcast in the 1930's and commenced sales of Japan's first LP records in the early 1950's; however, Denon's true claim to fame came in 1971 when the company started producing hi-fi audio components. These components included turntables, amplifiers, tuners, and speakers. Ten years later, Denon was the industry leader in the introduction of consumer-use CD players.
In the past couple of decades the company was the first to bring us an AC-3 and THX 5.1 certified home theater system, THX-EX home theater system, mini system with 5.1 surround sound, and the world's first consumer product featuring HQV (Hollywood Quality Video). Denon currently specializes in professional and consumer cinema and audio equipment, from A/V receivers and DVD players to tuners and wireless music systems. The company is particularly known for their high-end A/V receivers and moving coil phono cartridges. The Denon M30 and M31 hi-fi receivers are among their most successful products. Over the years, Denon also has a large fan-base in the DJing community.
