Pioneer
Founded in 1938 by Nozomu Matsumoto in Tokyo, Japan, Pioneer now a multinational corporation that manufactures digital entertainment products. The company was originally established as a radio and speaker repair shop, but has immerged as an innovative force in consumer electronics with a presence in Asia, Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Latin America, Africa, the Middle East, and the United States. Pioneer introduced the world's first separate stereo system in 1962, the first component car stereo in 1975, the first car CD player in 1984, and the innovations continued. Pioneer played a part in the development of interactive cable television, the laser disc, Supertuner technology, DVD, DVD recording, plasma display, and organic LED (or OLED) display.
Some of Pioneer's current brands include Pioneer Elite, Pioneer Premier, TAD, and Pioneer PRO DJ. Pioneer's main product line offers home and automotive electronics in the form of navigation systems, televisions, PC DVD drives and recorders, set-top DVD players, etc. Their Pioneer Elite brand offers higher quality electronics than their usual line. These high-end versions of Pioneer products can be differentiated by their gloss black Urushi finish. Pioneer Premier is available only in North America, and brands Pioneer's high-end car electronics. The company's high-end speakers are usually branded within their TAD line, while Pioneer PRO DJ caters to DJ-specific equipment.
