Rockford Fosgate is a well-known manufacturer of aftermarket car audio products based out of Tempe, Arizona. Rockford Fosgate is also the parent company of Lightning Audio, which produces entry-level car audio equipment as compare to the products manufactured under the Rockford Fosgate brand name. Rockford Fosgate products are all designed and engineered in Tempe, Arizona. The company's founder Jim Fosgate, an audio industry pioneer, won a special Emmy at the 2003 Technology and Engineering Emmy awards.
Rockford Fosgate has been a key innovator in the mobile audio market. The company developed the first car audio surround processor in 1979, the first car computer in 1990, and the first MP3 player for the car in 2000. Today, Rockford Fosgate manufactures amplifiers, subwoofers, speakers, processors, enclosures, and other accessories for vehicles.
