TASCAM is one of the four divisions of TEAC Corporation, headquartered in Tokyo, Japan. TASCAM serves as TEAC's professional audio arm and is credited as the inventor of the Portastudio, the first cassette-based multi-track home studio recorder. Other innovations the company brought to the home recording scene include: the first 8-track, reel-to-reel/mixer combo, the first R-DAT recorder, and the first Minidisc digital multitracker and CD scratcher.
TASCAM currently manufactures a range of audio equipment, from the professional post-production studio to the amateur home studio level. Their pro audio products include high resolution recorders, multi-track recorders, solid state recorders, mixers, and I/O cards. The company also produces USB and FireWire interfaces and controllers for computers. Other TASCAM recording tools include cassette decks, CD/DVD duplicators and recorders, digital portastudios, and microphones. TASCAM has been producing high quality audio recording equipment for over 30 years.
